MÉLISSA BAISSIÈRES began writing poetry at the tender age of nine. Encouraged by her grandmother, she took up music and singing lessons at 14. Her destiny became clear—she was meant to be a singer.
Starting her journey solo with just her guitar, Mélissa returned to France in 2019 after a long trip through Asia. Inspired by melodies and lyrics yearning to come alive, she sought musicians to collaborate with and chose a name that felt true to her essence: JOLIE MÔME.
JOLIE MÔME is more than just a name; it is a statement. The vivid red headband framing Mélissa’s hazel eyes symbolizes the strong personality of this sensitive, authentic, rebellious, and incisive singer-guitarist.
Beyond stirring our hearts and minds, JOLIE MÔME captivates our ears with catchy melodies blending folk influences, reimagined and modernized waltzes, and tangos. Her debut album, Legoland (released in 2023), evokes comparisons to contemporary artists like Ala.ni and Asaf Avidan, while her profound French lyrics echo the legacy of Léo Ferré, Barbara, Brel, Mano Solo, and Noir Désir.
During her tours across France, with nearly 150 concerts in just three years, Mélissa wields her sharp lyrical pen to lay bare our flaws, our shortcomings, and our deepest wounds.
Her second album, Le Verrou, ventures into new musical territory, embracing electro-pop, rock, rap, and trip-hop to define a bold and strikingly effective style.
Le Verrou is an anthem, a banner carving its path through rhythms that shift between flowing and frenetic, vibrant with melancholic guitars and synths. It delivers a raw yet sincere vision of the world, embodying optimism through its vivid messages.
